In 2021, it was time for the historic hotel Stenungsbaden Yacht Club to upgrade its already solid spa experience for its guests with a new sauna raft down in the beautiful Hakefjord. The obvious choice landed on an infrared sauna from Luxway. The sauna is also equipped with a traditional sauna unit that is used on certain event evenings, when it is great to combine traditional sauna and infrared, so this felt like the right choice.

The sauna raft is very close to nature on Södra Stenugnsön in the water by the Hakefjorden. Right near a nature reserve. In order to regain the close-to-nature feeling, the sauna raft is completely built in untreated Cedar wood, which acquires a beautiful natural silver gray color over time. Inside the sauna raft, there is a relaxation room adjacent to the sauna with comfortable armchairs, where drinks and snacks are also served.

When we entered this project, the dimensions of the sauna room were already determined and we were given the task of drawing up the interior and the heating system. Since there is a high ceiling height in the sauna of over 3 meters, we went for three seat heights in order to maximize the number of seats with a nice view of the fjord from the large panoramic windows, but still keep the sauna spacious and bright.
The customer wanted a specially built control system for both the traditional sauna system and for the infrared heating, which we of course solved for the customer. With the specially designed control system, the sauna has also become extremely energy efficient and much appreciated by the guests. This sauna is in operation approximately 14 hours a day, 7 days a week and also for Midnatts events. Due to the fact that the sauna is primarily an infrared sauna, this means that Stenugnsbadet Yacht Club, according to our calculations, saves approx. 8000-8500 kW/h a month, just in this sauna.
